Pink porcelain, a fine gold edge, and scattered yellow and blue flowers bring this teapot the warmth of an English room at tea rather than the stiffness of a formal service. Gibsons made it in Staffordshire sometime between 1905 and the 1960s, a broad but honest period held together by the known maker and place. The lid remains with the pot, preserving the full silhouette and the small ritual of lifting it to pour. English bone china and an assured use of color lets the piece stand independently among simpler cups and plates. Staffordshire craft moving through the first half of the 20th century into an object still ready for the table.
