Returns & Satisfaction
At Fisher James California, we carefully source and present one-of-a-kind furnishings, fine art, tableware, and decorative objects selected for their character, craftsmanship, and enduring design.
Because nearly every piece we offer is vintage, antique, or otherwise unique, we encourage clients to review photographs, dimensions, and descriptions carefully before purchasing. We are always happy to answer questions or provide additional photographs prior to sale.
Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged in transit or you receive an incorrect item, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.
Please include:
Photographs of the item
Photographs of the original packaging

A brief description of the issue
We will work promptly to repair, replace (when possible), or issue an appropriate refund once the claim has been reviewed. Approved refunds will be processed within 5–7 business days of our receiving and inspecting the returned item.
In cases where the error was ours — including transit damage or an incorrect item shipped — return shipping costs will be covered by Fisher James California.
Failure to retain original packaging may affect our ability to process shipping claims.
Returns
Due to the unique nature of our inventory, all sales are considered final except in the following circumstances:
The item arrived damaged during shipment.
The item received differs materially from its listing description.
Returns are not accepted for:
Change of mind
Buyer's remorse
Color variation due to monitor or screen settings
Natural wear consistent with age
Minor manufacturing irregularities typical of vintage or handmade pieces
Failure to read dimensions before purchase
Styling decisions after delivery
Condition of Returned Merchandise
Any authorized return must be received in the same condition in which it was shipped.
Items showing evidence of use, installation, entertaining, food service, candle wax, smoke, fragrances, cooking residue, pet hair, cleaning attempts, laundering, outdoor exposure, or any condition inconsistent with their original shipped state are not eligible for refund.
Event & Temporary Use Policy
Fisher James California does not accept returns of merchandise that has been purchased for temporary use, staging, events, entertaining, photography, productions, or short-term installation. Merchandise returned with evidence of use inconsistent with its original condition is not eligible for refund.
Items returned in altered or used condition may be refused or subject to a partial refund at our sole discretion.
By completing your purchase, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these return conditions.
Return Authorization Required
No returns will be accepted without prior written authorization.
Unauthorized returns may be refused and returned to the sender at the sender's expense.
Shipping Charges
Original shipping charges, rush shipping fees, white glove delivery fees, insurance, customs fees, and return shipping costs are non-refundable except where required by law or when the error was ours.
Vintage Character
Our collection celebrates authentic vintage and antique objects.
Patina, crazing, glaze variations, hand-painted details, tool marks, age wear, and other characteristics are considered part of each item's history and are described and photographed whenever possible. These features should not be considered defects.
Fine Art
Original artwork, limited editions, prints, and framed works may exhibit age-related characteristics consistent with their provenance.
Unless otherwise stated, all artwork is sold in its current condition.
Tableware
Vintage ceramics, glazed pottery, and silverware may contain materials — including lead-based glazes or alloys — that are not suitable for food or beverage use.
Buyers are responsible for determining whether vintage tableware is appropriate for their intended use.
Our Promise
Every piece offered by Fisher James California is individually selected, photographed, researched, and represented as accurately as possible.
We believe that beautiful objects deserve careful stewardship — and that the right piece, in the right home, only grows more meaningful with time. It is our privilege to help you find it.
