Four cups settle into four matching saucers, the Blue Garland pattern repeating with the easy symmetry of a small tea table prepared in advance. Johann Haviland made the eight Bavarian porcelain pieces between approximately the 1960s and 1980s. The known maker, country, and pattern allow the group to join the related dinnerware with confidence, but the complete four-place format has a life of its own. Cup-and-saucer pairs often part company through use; these have remained together, preserving the intended proportion and the rhythm of the decoration. It is an intimate service rather than a ceremonial one—enough for friends, a pot in the center, and a long conversation after the plates have been cleared. Around a small breakfast table with a plain white teapot, all four settings let Blue Garland supply the room's single note of pattern. The completeness of this set—all eight pieces accounted for, all four place settings intact—speaks to its rarity and care. A finished collection ready to use or display, it carries the quiet authority of European craftsmanship and the lived-in elegance of a table set with intention.
