Green and gold travel from piece to piece with a quiet, formal rhythm, turning forty separate forms into one composed table. This Marie Antoinette service was made by Rosenthal in Selb, Germany, during the brief U.S. Zone period of approximately 1945–1949. That backstamp places it in the first years after the war, when German porcelain returned to domestic life under American occupation—a compact mark carrying an unusually full history. Six place settings remain together with the pieces that make a service feel truly complete: a gravy boat with attached underplate, two 10-inch serving bowls, and a 15-inch oval platter. The exact green-and-gold colorway has proved elusive in current references, and the survival of this full ensemble, rather than any invented rarity, is its distinction. On ivory linen, all six places and the oval platter create a fine green-and-gold line that can carry the eye through an entire evening.
