The tall 10.75-inch body rises with architectural calm, giving this kokeshi a presence that feels closer to sculpture than souvenir. It is signed by Aida Seihō, also known as Harumine, the Yamagata artist who became a pioneer of the postwar sōsaku kokeshi movement and received both the Prime Minister's Award and honors from Japan's Ministry of Education. Those distinctions give the work assured maker provenance without needing embellishment. A surviving Shirokiya stock sticker adds another chapter, linking this exact doll to the Japanese retailer's Honolulu history and to the way postwar travelers encountered and carried Japanese craft home. Dating to the 1960s–1970s, the piece holds artist, period, and retail journey in one slender form.
