About

I'm Thalia, Creative Director and Owner of Fisher James California, which is named for my two sons, Fisher Anton and Christian James.

A storyteller at heart. with a degree in Cinema and Television Arts, I bring those visual sensibilities with me when styling my photos and choosing my inventory: where the eye lands first, what sits in the background, what lives just outside the shot. I grew up in Texas, where weekends meant estate sales with my mother, who taught me to recognize quality long before I knew that's what she was doing. Today I live in Ojai, California, and my eye carries both places: rugged and polished, collected and composed.

What I look for

Creative Director, Thalia Buitron-Halleen, believes the best homes are bespoke, beautiful and embrace the intentional blending of styles. "I love spaces that are elevated without pretense and that's what I hope you'll find here."

I look for the maker's hand: glass fired one piece at a time, steel forged by hand, paint laid down by someone who meant it. Every piece is researched for its maker and history, condition-graded honestly, and photographed in real rooms here in Ojai. I have one rule for buying: I don't bring home anything I wouldn't want in my own.

How I work

Fisher James is a one-woman studio. Pieces are packed by hand and ship on Tuesdays and Fridays, often in boxes given a second life instead of a trip to the landfill.
