The eagle is held at the precise moment before contact, every line of the compact bronze carrying forward motion. Wally Shoop signed "Dead Aim" and numbered this casting 1698 of 2500, connecting the piece to the Wyoming lost-wax tradition in which he developed his defining wildlife subject. The edition is a substantial one, so the distinction is not rarity but the recognized image, the bronze process, and the exact signature and number belonging to this example. Measuring approximately 7.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches high, the sculpture concentrates considerable energy into a modest footprint, while its two-pound weight lends it a grounded physical presence.
