The surviving lid completes the bowl's round, architectural silhouette, turning an eight-inch serving form into a composed object even when the table is bare. L. Bernardaud & Co. made it in Limoges during the early 20th century as part of BER130, with a pink-and-yellow floral pattern shared by the related service. Factory, place, and pattern number come together with unusual precision, while the complete covered form preserves the way this substantial piece was intended to arrive at the table. Used for vegetables or a warm side, the lid creates a small moment of reveal; displayed between meals, it lifts the flowers into a presence that a plate cannot achieve.
