Neither dinner plate nor little dessert plate, the 8.5-inch luncheon form occupies a particularly gracious middle scale. Haviland made it in Limoges between approximately 1890 and 1927 as part of the pattern identified by Schleiger as number 67. Belonging to a larger French porcelain story these make a true match possible long after services have been divided. Three plates remain, all in excellent condition. The size is easy to live with—right for lunch, cake, or a layered first course—and the porcelain brings history without requiring a formal occasion. The trio can complete what a family already owns or begin a small, deliberately mixed table of its own.
