Olive Oil and Malt Vinegar are written plainly into the identity of these two ceramic jugs, giving the pair a direct, distinctly English charm. Made by Pearson's of Chesterfield, the vessels were conceived together, their matched form and specific labels turning everyday condiments into a small table composition. No date is known, so the history stays with the verified maker, place, material, and function rather than an assumed period. The pair has the warmth of useful pottery: familiar enough to reach for daily, particular enough to leave in view. Keeping both jugs together preserves the simple conversation between them and the old English table habit their wording evokes.
