Bird's-eye maple burl draws the eye first, its dense, swirling figure held in a slim case alongside the warmer glint of brass. Signed by Charles Elkan for Timeless Treasures, the 9-inch object brings a clock and barometer together with Hebrew alphanumeric content, creating something more personal than an ordinary desktop weather station. The Oregon burl gives it a distinctly regional material story, while Elkan's signature secures the maker behind this exact piece. The Hebrew inscription has not been translated, so no blessing, verse, or private meaning is assigned without evidence. At only 4 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep, it asks for little space but rewards the close view, where wood grain, instrument faces, and characters resolve together. Place it on a writing desk or narrow hall console at eye level, allowing the burl and brass to sit among books, collected papers, and the other instruments of daily life.
