The maternal grouping is immediate and tender, shaped at a substantial scale that lends the subject real physical presence. Dee Crowley created "My Mommy" for Austin Productions in 1990, and the sculpture is signed and dated—a complete authorship story preserved on the object itself. Austin Productions, founded in Brooklyn in 1952, worked with named sculptors to bring thoughtful figurative designs into the American home.  At roughly 12 inches high and 8.5 pounds, it feels grounded on a surface and asks to be seen from nearby, where the relationship between the figures can fully register.
